PETROS MAKEYAN IS DROPPING OUT OF ELECTION STRUGGLE
Support A1+!“It took Petros Makeyan 20 days to understand that no one can speak or act freely in Armenia” . Not entrusting to the party statement, “Democratic Homeland” Party Chair Petros Makeyan decided in person to give explanations over his leaving the election struggle.
According to him, the motive for that was not only murder of Tigran Naghdalyan but also the terror-like atmosphere in Armenia . Makeyan came to that conclusion within 20 days - during the signature collecting.
The very first days of collecting signatures party works were hampered by Mayors and village heads of Shirak and Lori Provinces in particular.
“We never think that Mayors or village heads are given instructions by Robert Kocharyan and Serj Sargssyan in person. We just think Kocharyan and Sargssyan are those to be punished for that environment” , Makeyan says.
”Why exactly towards You?” Makeyan was asked. He answered through facts: It turned out that Lori Province Head is sure if Makeyan comes to power, he will be called to account for embezzlement of 500. 000 $ for Baghra-Bogdanovka road .
Appraising the pre-election situation, Makeyan compared 2003 presidential process with the one in 1998. He says there is regress there.
Committees were set up by breaches of Law and Constitution. Committees granted unlimited rights to their “chosen one” – it is a month since Robert Kocharyan began his election campaign.
”What to do?” Answering his own question, Makeyan says the common candidate is the only hope for us .
