GOHAR GASPARYAN DECEASED
Support A1+!On 16 May, the «Armenian nightingale» Gohar Gasparyan, passed away at the age 83. She was considered the greatest master of the Armenian opera, the national artist of the USSR, the hero of the Social Labor, the National Artist of Armenia, the «Mesrop Mashtots» order-bearer and the professor of the Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas.
Gohar Gasparyan was born in Cairo in 1924 . She studied at the local Musical Academy. In 1948 she returned to the mother land. Since 1949 she has been singing at the State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater of Armenia named after A. Spendiaryan with leading roles in 23 opera plays. More than 500 works have been involved in her concert repertoire.
