"Deir ez Zor is a holy place for all Armenians"
On November 25, the Armenian delegation headed by Parliament Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan left for Deir ez Zor.
The Armenian delegates were met by the governor of Deir ez Zor Husein Arnus and other top officials.
The Armenian parliamentarians laid a wreath at the memorial to the Armenian Genocide victims. They also visited the Genocide museum and left notes in the memory book. The delegation members also had a meeting with the representatives of the local Armenian community.
Hovik Abrahamyan noted that the delegation could not leave Syria without visiting Deir ez Zor
"Each year on April 24, Armenians spread all over the world gather at the memorials to the Armenian Genocide victims. Deir ez Zor has become a holy place for all Armenians to pay daily visits. We are here to pay tribute to the victims of the Armenian Genocide killed by the Ottoman Empire and to confirm our determination to restore historical justice," he said.
The delegation returned to Armenia on November 26.
