Instead of killing wolves, we should try to find out the reasons for their aggressive behaviour, member of the Public Ecological Alliance and environmentalist Silva Adamyan told reporters on October 22. “These predators usually hunt in places whether there is something to hunt.  The lack of food made them become more active recently,” she said. The environmentalist stresses that wolves are orderlies of nature and they kill weak and sick animals. Earlier this year, the government allocated 20 million drams (about $50,000) to the Ministry of Nature Protection as rewards to hunters for killing wolves in 2014. Silva Adamyan believes that the money is wasted, Inga Zarafyan, Chair of “Ecolur” NGO, added in her turn that the hunting has not given anything good expect the wolf fur.  Therefore a group of animal rights advocates and activists will be holding a protest on Wednesday outside the government demanding that the executive stop senseless slaughter of wolves.
