National Library Week due in Armenia April 12-19
Form April 12 - 19 the Armenian Library Association is organizing series of events dedicated to the "Week of National Library" which carries the motto "A view to the Rural Library."
Every year the Armenian Library Association and Armenian National Library travel to village libraries to get familiarizes with their problems and concerns.
Most village libraries were passed to local self-government bodies and immediately appeared in a miserable state or were closed down.
The goal of the initiative is to give a new meaning to the role of the book, knowledge, libraries, as well as to draw the attention of state figures and society to library issues.
Upon the initiative of the ALA, a donation of books will be organized in community libraries. The Association is hopeful that rural libraries will be enriched throughout the year.
The week will be summed up on April 19 in the National Library.
All interested people are welcome to bring books to the Armenian National Library at 72 Teryan, Yerevan.
