Children sleep on chairs
Kindergarten N1 in Akhtala will now be named after Tsovinar Bludyan from Akhtala.
Participating in the ceremony was her son, Russian government official Norayr Bludyan, as well as boxers Vakhtang Darchinyan and Suzy Kentikyan.
There are currently 30 children attending kindergarten, but there is not much space to accommodate more children wishing to attend. The thirty children are fitted in only one room in the entire kindergarten building.
It was renovated a year ago, but the other rooms are in poor condition. The kindergarten can't fit children of different age groups all in one room. They don't even have beds and the teachers are forced to divert the children in order for them not to fall asleep on the chairs.
The kindergarten faces other issues as well. For example, water is supplied once a day and for a short amount of time.
"Why should children see broken windows and doors that close with nails in this age? We just want the kindergarten to be renovated," say kindergarten employees and add that the municipality has assured that it will be renovated. Many parents are waiting for that so they can send their children there.
