Chief of Ijevan Police Department arrested

On September 17, the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan’s Arabkir-Kanaker-Zeytun Administrative districts upheld the motion lodged by the Investigator of Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Armenia and ruled to put the Chief of Ijevan Police Department Andranik A. under arrest, the SIS Press Service reports. The chief of Ijevan police was taken from the courthouse to “Vardashen” Criminal-Executive Institution. The Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Armenia earlier disseminated information /http://investigatory.am/en/News/item/1173/ about concealing the criminal act committed by Artak A., the Deputy Chief of Tavush Regional Investigation Department of the Main Investigation Department of the Police of the Republic of Armenia and Andranik A., the Head of Ijevan Department of Tavush Regional Administration of the Police of the Republic of Armenia and then distorting the actual facts inconsistent with the reality by bringing artificial evidence of charges. With regard to the case on September 14 the Chief of Ijevan Department of Tavush Regional Administration of the Police of the Republic of Armenia was arrested and the Deputy Chief of Tavush Regional Investigation Department of the Main Investigation Department of the Police of the Republic of Armenia was charged in accordance with Part 2 of Article 308 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. The suspect or the accused of the alleged offence is deemed innocent unless his or her innocence is proved by virtue of the effective court verdict in the manner prescribed by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia.
