POLISH MARSHAL IN THE PARLIAMENT

RA NA Speaker Tigran Torosyan has had a private conversation with Bogdan Borusevich, the Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland. The NA Speaker found the visit of the Marshal important within the framework of the policy of integration into the European structures.

NEW HEADS

The Presidium of the RA National Academy of Sciences has confirmed the candidacies of the heads of four scientific-research institutes.

THEY LEFT FOR ASTANA

Robert Kocharyan has left for Kazakhstan on a two-day official visit at the invitation of President Nursultan Nazarbayev. His delegation included RA Minister of Commerce and Economic development, Minister of Culture, the Public Prosecutor, and the President of the Central Bank.

AYVAZYAN MET THE KING

RA Ambassador to Sweden Ara Ayvazyan met King of Sweden Karl XVI Gustav in order to hand the King his credentials.

CHIEF BANKERS IN YEREVAN

The recurrent session of the International Bank started in Yerevan today. During the session issues about the 2006 activity of the bank are to be discussed. Let us remind you that President of the RA Central Bank Tigran Sargsyan presides over the Bank council.

ARMENIAN-CHINESE COOPERATION

RA deputy foreign minister Armen Bayburdyan’s delegation which is in China on official duty participated in the recurrent phase of interdepartmental consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Armenia and China. RA Ambassador to China V. Ghazaryan also participated in the meetings.

PLENARY SESSION

The RA Government will turn to the RA NA Speaker with the suggestion to convene a plenary session at 12:00, November 9, 2006, to discuss and adopt a number of RA draft laws endorsed by the RA Government.

HAPPY NEWS FOR MANOUKYAN

Under the decision of the RA Government, RA Ministry of Transportation and Communication will henceforth control 10 percent of shares of «ArmenTel» Ltd which are considered the RA property.

SERBIA WILL PRESIDE

RA Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanyan made a speech during the 15th meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation. Oskanyan mentioned that despite the problems, the BSEC countries have much in common.

STATE BUDGET MUST ALSO PARTICIPATE IN THE COMBAT AGAISNT TRAFFICKING

The RA Government intends to process a new national program in order to combat trafficking, but no real steps have yet been taken as the state budget does not allot means for that. According to US deputy Ambassador to Armenia Anthony Godfry, if the RA Government allots a certain sum for this purpose, the USA and the UNDP are ready to actively finance the project.

OSKANYAN MET BEZHUASHVILI

On November 1 RA Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanyan met Georgian Foreign Minister Gela Bezhuashvili. Both Ministers are participating in the 15th meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation.

KOCHARYAN MEETS WITH FRADKOV

Today, RA President Robert Kocharyan met with Russian Prime Minister Michael Fradkov.

THE MOSCOW PROPOSALS ARE ADMISSIBLE

The meeting of the Armenian and Azeri Foreign Ministers will be held in Brussels, on November 14. The key issues of the discussion will be the proposals made by the OSCE Minsk group in Moscow.

GEORGIA IS GRATEFUL

RA NA Speaker Tigran Torosyan received Ambassador of Georgia to Armenia Revaz Gachechiladze. Mr. Gachechiladze thanked the NA Speaker and the RA Parliament for balanced attitude towards the Russian-Georgian relations.

LILOYAN WAS APPOINTED CONSUL

By the decree of the RA Foreign Minister on October 30 Armen Liloyan was appointed RA Consul General in Los Angeles. Armen Liloyan has graduated from the Yerevan State University faculty of oriental studies. He also studied in the London Diplomatic Academy.

PRESIDENT PROMISED TO INVITE OBSERVERS

Robert Kocharyan said that he will invite both long-term and short-term international observation missions to Armenia for monitoring the course of elections.

PUTIN IS WAITING

On October 30 President Robert Kocharyan will leave for Moscow on official duty. The same day he will have a private conversation with his Russian colleague Vladimir Putin in Kremlin.

MEETING WITH MARSHAL FUND REPRESENTATIVES

RA FM Vartan Oskanian received the experts of German Marshal fund who are in Armenia on regional visit. There are representatives from the U.S. Congress Personal among the delegation.

PRESIDENT KOCHARYAN AWARDS THE FRENCH AMBASSADOR

Today, President Robert Kocharyan had a farewell meeting with Henry Cuny, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Armenia.

COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF VISITED MILITARY BASES

RA President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Robert Kocharyan visited a number of military bases near the border of Armenia on October 23-24. The aim of the visit was to get acquainted with the military and technical preparedness of the bases.

FOREIGN MINISTERS MEET

Today, RA Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian met with his Azeri counter part Elmar Mammadyarov in Paris. The OSCE Mink group Co-Chairs were also present at the meeting.

Today, NA Speaker Tigran Torosyan met with Head of the WB Yerevan office Roger Robinson whose mission in Armenia comes to an end.

OSKANIAN AND MAMMADYAROV TO MEET AGAIN

Today, the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan are to meet in Paris. Bernard Fassier, Yury Merzlyakov and Mettew Bryza, the Co-Chairs of the Minsk group will be present at the meeting.
