“From Classroom to Orbit”: With Ucom’s Support, “Space 1.0” Is Being Introduced in 15 Schools Across Armenia

Ucom and CIPR AeroSpace announce the launch of a new phase of cooperation within the “From Classroom to Orbit” program, aimed at advancing technology education in Armenia. Ucom General Director Ralph Yirikian and Mari Hrachuhi Poghosyan, Founder and Director of CIPR AeroSpace, presented the “Space 1.0” educational kits to Yerevan Basic School No. 163 named after Grigor Gurzadyan and Yerevan Basic School No. 156 named after Zorayr Khalapyan.

The kit enables school students to explore space engineering not only in theory but also through hands-on learning. Students have the opportunity to work with an educational satellite, a ground station and related equipment, developing analytical thinking and engineering skills.

“Developing technology education is of strategic importance to Ucom. We value initiatives that provide school students not only with knowledge, but also with practical experience, helping them understand how modern technologies work,” said Ralph Yirikian, General Director of Ucom.

As part of the “From Classroom to Orbit” program, each participating school receives a “Space 1.0” educational kit comprising one educational satellite, one ground station, one parachute and two manuals. The program also includes teacher involvement and the necessary instructional support to ensure that schools can use the kit on an ongoing basis.

“Our goal is to make space education accessible to schools across Armenia, starting at an age when children’s interest in science and technology is just beginning to take shape. ‘Space 1.0’ is designed so that students do not simply learn about space and satellites, but can also experiment, measure, analyze and independently understand technological processes,” said Mary Hrachoohi Boghosian, Founder and Director of CIPR AeroSpace.

Ucom places particular emphasis on engaging schools in the regions, ensuring that innovative educational opportunities are accessible not only in the capital but also in communities across Armenia.

In 2025, a pilot version of the “From Classroom to Orbit” program was implemented in four schools in Yerevan and the regions. In 2026, the “Space 1.0” educational kit is planned for intreduction in 15 schools across Armenia, including seven in Yerevan and eight in the regions.
