Transport fares increased in Alaverdi

New tariffs have been fixed for intercity bus service in the city of Alaverdi. Starting Nov. 4, citizens will have to pay AMD 100 against the former AMD 70. And though passengers knew about the pending increase for a few days, they were surprised to pay more money today. The new prices have driven locals into utter confusion and many decided to go to work on foot.

Kamo Babayan, Director of ‘Karap Trans' Ltd says the rise in transport fare was expected still two months ago when competitive bids were submitted with the city hall.

He says the company tried its best to leave fares unchanged but the prices of fuel and spare parts forced them to increase the tariffs.
