Walnut-sized hail in Syunik Marz
Yesterday's heavy hail aroused deep concern in Khrdants village of Syunik Marz. The whole village was deenergized as the result of the hail which lasted 30-40 minutes.
The walnut-sized hail came in perfect torrents, covering the ground several inches thick and remained on the ground till the morning.
"The hail leveled everything to the ground, causing great damages to the agriculture," say villagers in bewilderment.
Village elder Andranik Babayan says the hail might have caused more serious damage if it came in the daytime.
"We hoped to have a good crop to live on the following year but God punished us," said Grandpa Garnik.
In all, 13 communities in Kapan and Meghri were beaten by the hail. A special commission has been set up to assess the damage done by the hail.
Remind that sixty pigs were slaughtered in Khrdants in 2010 after the outbreak of African plague epidemic.
