Resident of Shaghat village of Sisyan region Armenuhi Khachatryan's chickens are placed in the refrigerator instead of the chicken coop. Out of the 84 chickens, 20 have died and the rest had to be killed and stored.

"The contagion spread from my neighbor's fence to my side in a day," says the 56-year old woman. "The chickens have a stomachache and then die. I didn't let it get to that, but when I saw they are not eating well, I killed them," says Armenuhi Khachatryan.

There is not a home in Shaghat that hasn't suffered damages. Villagers say bird meat is useless after it dies. Experts advise eating a chicken's neck meat after boiling it for a long time.

Now housewives are keeping an eye on the chicken coops to make it in time to cut the meat in time.

Samvel Babayan, 25, lost all of his chickens and the family exchanged the primary food with eggs. Now Samvel is making modest calculations.

Villagers say the contagion reached the village from the nearby Bardzravan community and spread quickly.

According to the village's veterinarian Genik Mkrtchyan, the symptoms of the illness are like symptoms of a fake plague. The injection against this bird illness was taken out of the framework of the state order.

There is no vaccination for the birds' fake plague in drug stores and Armenia in general, according to Head of the Department of Agriculture and Nature Protection of the Syunik regional council Kajik Khachatryan and head of the Syunik regional center of the state inspectorate for food security and veterinary medicine of at the RA Ministry of Agriculture Edgar Tokhsants.

Villagers throw the dead birds in the nearby river without thinking about the consequences. According to Edgar Tokhsants, the dead chickens must be buried in the ground in order to refrain from future contagions.
Representatives of corresponding bodies can't state an exact number of dead birds, but don't deny that most of the birds in the region have died.
