“Vandalism against Armenians”
"Desecration of the monument to Holocaust victims in Yerevan yesterday evening is an act of barbarism addressed to Armenians," chairperson of the Jewish community of Armenia Rimma Varzhapetyan told A1+.
The words "Death to Jews" and a swastika were inscribed on the monument.
"There is a fascist organization in Armenia which carries out similar defacement and vandalism," said Rimma Varzhapetyan.
She also blamed Armenian security services for not placing cameras near the monument.
This is not the first time a monument has been desecrated in Yerevan.
"A criminal case has been initiated. At midnight I was near the monument where I found the consequences of vandalism eliminated," said the chairperson of the Jewish community.
According to Sayat Shirinyan, Head of the Public Relations Department of the Armenian Police, no information is available about the vandals.
