Erna Yuzbashyan: “I’m a little crazy”
After 17 years, singer Erna Yuzbashyan is back in Armenia with a concert called "Only for you" that promises to be unpredictable.
"I'm a little crazy. I might come out and say something that has nothing to do with the program. I listen to my organizers, but know that I will do something different. I apologize in advance," the singer told journalists today.
Erna says she hasn't seen huge changes during her short visits to Armenia, but Yerevan has changed. Erna hasn't adapted to the lifestyle in the U.S. and wants to return to the homeland. "I can't live without Yerevan, my friends and I will finally come here. I want my daughter to grow up here, finish school, speak Armenian and understand what friendship is all about."
Touching upon Armenian show business, Erna Yuzbashyan mentioned the names of a couple of singers whom she appreciates such as Sirusho and Tigran Petrosyan. As for those who lack talent and are recognized, the singer tried to draw parallels with her generation. "In our days, we were simply working and in difficult conditions. There was no equipment and we even sang without microphones."
Staying true to her principles, Erna Yuzbashyan tries to preserve the best traditions of Armenian pop and it doesn't matter where she sings. "I always sing in one of the clubs in Los Angeles. I always sing about my feelings and to make people listen and think," says the singer, adding that it doesn't matter to her whether she receives a title or not.
One of the occasions for her concert on September 30 is the release of her first album. "The right thing is to release an album when you grow and mature and not the opposite," says the singer.
