Monument tilts every day
Residents of Akhuryan village hurry to the Akhuryan memorial with daybreak to see whether the monument stands firm.
The monument started tilting after the earthquake of 1988. Weather changes further accelerated the destruction.
People living near the monument are concerned over the safety of their families.
After applying to different structures, they received the answer: "The monument has no architectural value and is not registered anywhere."
Disappointed residents had to turn to the village headman. Community head Artsrun Igityan says they are looking for a construction organization capable of dismantling the monument without harming nearby houses.
