Armenian Red Cross raises $2000 for Haitians

Armenia has raised $2000 to help Haiti people after the devastating earthquake of January 12, 2010. The money was collected through SMS contribution organized by the Armenian Red Cross. Citizens had to pay 500 AMD for each SMS.

Anna Eghiazaryan, Secretary General of the Armenian Red Cross, says Armenia couldn't stay indifferent to Haitians.

"Our help is both material and moral. Our people should help Haiti with all possible means," she told A1+.
Remind that UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said that "the earthquake was one of the most serious humanitarian crises in decades."

The number of victims totaled 200 000.
