Teachers do not want to leave Gyumri
"Redundant teachers fill the ranks of the unemployed in Gyumri since they cannot find other jobs. Yet, it doesn't mean that other marzes don't feel a lack of teachers," says Head of the State Employment Service Agency Sona Harutyunyan.
Distant villages of Gegharkunik, Syunik and Lori Marzes, cannot fill the vacancies at school with required specialists.
In 2003 teachers made redundant in the result of various education reforms were deployed in the marzes and matched with vacated positions.
A teacher is free to resettle in the distant village with his family.
Though government compensates all costs few teachers are encouraged by the programme and agree to leave for a remote village.
