12 sepulchers found in Teghut
Archeologists have found ancient monuments, workshops, wine-presses and sepulchers during a recent exploration of the Teghut mine.
The findings speak to the fact that the settlement was inhabited a few thousand years ago," says Suren Hobosyan, senior scientific worker of the RA Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography.
The wine-press dating back to the 12-13th centuries is something new in eastern Armenia. It shows that vine-growing and wine-making were of great economic importance in medieval Armenia.
Alongside with wine-presses, explorers have found 12 sepulchers dating back to the 9-7th centuries B.C.
