REGIONAL HEAD BOASTS WITH THEIR ACHIEVMENTS
Support A1+!The problem of drinking water still remains one of the main concerns of Ararat Marz. Alik Sargsyan, head of the region, says that they have already planned large-scale work in this respect which they intend to realize in 2007 – 2009.
“We intend to have 1km 300 meters underground water pipeline with the financial assistance of marzpetaran. But this can hardly become the solution to the problem”, claims Alik Sargsyan.
The program implementation requires great financial means and time.
Alongside with water problem, some communities of the region are also deprived of gas and telephone communication. Alik Sargsyan refrained from any answer to these questions as, in his words, they are already concerned about them.
He says that the region counters other problems as well, and they take corresponding measures in this connection.
On the whole, Alik Sargsyan prefers to speak of the progress and achievements of the region. He claims that 2006 has been rather fruitful for the region as the “country has fully born responsibility for the region”.
There are other reasons for rejoice. Many refugees of the marz have celebrated housewarming this year; small houses were built in the areas privatized by the residents by joint measures of the marzpetaran and Norwegian Office.
“We could provide over 700 families with dwelling places .They received 2-3-storey buildings; one of them was fully reconstructed and redecorated; and the other is a newly-built house” boasts the head of the region.
Besides, Kindergarten 3 was opened. It was repaired and furnished by the financial assistance of UNDP and Marko Clemente, Ambassador of Italy to Armenia.
Over 168 thousand USD was allotted for the kindergarten. And 39 thousand USD was allocated by the Ararat Marzpetaran.
