ARMENTEL TO BE SUED OVER ALLEGED ABUSES
Support A1+!Armentel Company is hampering Internet communication development in Armenia, says Vahram Mkhitaryan, Armenian Computer Centre director general.
Deadlock situation is composed today in the sphere of Internet technologies. The situation is due to Armentel abuse of its sole right for telephone communication. Mkhitaryan says the company put massive pressure on other companies working in this field. Armentel’s activity contradicts 1997 government decision stipulating that Armentel is given sole right for only telephone but not other kind of communication while the company has seized monopoly on telegraph, radio and Internet communication as well as cable television, bank data transfer and other areas, Mkhitaryan says.
Taking into consideration the above mentioned, Armenian Computer Centre filed a motion to the Procurator General of the Republic of Armenia demanding to launch legal action against Armentel. Armenian Computer Centre and CSC “Soft-Nota” expected to apply to the Economic Court with a similar demand.
