Designer’s advice: “Jeans have become classic”
February 26 marks the birthday of Levi Strauss. The world owes him for so much beloved and comfortable denim clothing. “Jeans have already become classic,” says designer Aram Nikolyan. He cannot remember a period when jeans haven’t been fashionable.
“Today the world pursues comfort, for that reason jeans are always in demand,” Aram Nikolyan told “A1+” and added that he personally had a chance to get acquainted with the interesting process of making denim clothing. Years ago, in 2008, he initiated production of jeans in Armenia, but the project wasn’t a success:
“Tense political situation at the time was the problem, as well as not favorable economic situation and we failed,” he highlighted.
To the remark that it is much discussed that due to jeans women forget about womanly dresses, Aram Nikolyan answered that anything, which is used too much and inappropriately, is already wrong.
“I would advise maintaining dress code in some places, though recently the combination of cocktail dress and jeans has become widespread,” he summed up.
First denim clothing came into use in 1850 thanks to Strauss, who later founded Levi Strauss & Co. corporation.
