Armen Darbinyan, a former prime minister of Armenia, considers emigration to be a normal phenomenon. “People who leave Armenia usually achieve success in other countries which means emigration is grounded. We also benefit from it as we have successful, prosperous, rich and eventually smart compatriots living outside Armenia,” says Mr Darbinyan. At the same time, he stressed that the Armenian government headed by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan is trying to use its full potential in the country. However, Mr Darbinyan adds that he is a supporter of ideological and professional management, rather than political one.  “We have chosen the mechanism of political management which, I think, is a luxury for a country, like Armenia. We need to have professional management and ideological team. This is the model I would like to see in Armenia,” said the politician. In his speech, the former premier repeatedly said he did not want to criticize anyone, including Hovik Abrahamyan.  “It is too early to assess the achievements of Abrahamyan-led government. We have to wait a little as we do not have good economic indicators. Poor performance will not allow you to be successful,” he said. Specialists blame the poor performance on the country’s monopolized economy. Mr Darbinyan offers his solution to the problem, at the same time advising not to cite the monopoly in the sugar market as an example. “This [sugar market] is a pointless conversation. Everyone is talking about sugar today. Monopoly is aimed at merging political and economic power,” he stressed.
