Under a decree of RA President Robert Kocharian, the 2007 spring recruitment and release of servicemen launched. The RA mandatory and alternative military conscriptions will be held from April till June of the current year.

The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict could be very close to a resolution, and Armenia is committed to working with the peace plan negotiated by the OSCE Minsk Group dealing with the conflict, Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian told the OSCE Permanent Council today.

On April 17, in accordance with the earlier achieved agreement with the NKR authorities the OSCE mission conducted a regular monitoring of the contact-line of Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijani armed forces eastwards the settlement of Seisulan, NKR Martakert region.

On April 19, CIS IPA of RF delegation headed by Anatoly Torshin, vice-chairman of FC ( Council of Federation) as well as Michael Krotov, General Secretary of CIS IPA is due to come.

April 16, 2007 - Today RA Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian left for Austria on working visit. The RA FM will meet with Barbara Prammer, Speaker of the Austrian Parliament, and Ursula Plasnik, Minister of European and International Affairs.

Today RA Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan received Yan Gorvini, the head of the OSCE/ODHIR election observation mission to Armenia. The parties dwelt on the conduct of RA NA elections and relevance of election frauds.

RA FM Vartan Oskanian received Leo Platvoet, head of the PACE election observation mission to Armenia.

The recurrent meeting of the Armenian and Azeri FMs is scheduled in Belgrade on April 18, the press service of the RA Foreign Ministry reports. The meeting will be attended by the OSCE Minsk group Co-Chairs Special Envoy of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office.

RA NA Speaker Tigran Torosyan received Tone Tingsgaard, Vice-President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, and head of the PACE election observation mission to Armenia.

On April 14 RA President Robert Kocharian will leave for the Arab Republic of Egypt on two-day official visit. The president will be escorted by Vartan Oskanian, RA Foreign Minister, Karen Chshmarityan, Minister of Trade and Economic Development, Hasmik Poghosyan, Minister of Culture and Youth Affairs, and many other high-level officials.

April 13 – Today David Harutyunyan, RA Minister of Justice, received the PACE election observation mission headed by Leo Platvoet.

Armenian delegation headed by Tigran Torosyan, RA NA Chairman, member to PACE will leave for Strasburg to take part in PACE procedures from April 15-18.

Presentation of CD, containing video and photo sources, archive documents, publications and evidence of eye-witnesses of mass slaughter of civilian population of the village of Maragha, NKR Martakert region, by Azerbaijani armed units, took place in the Artsakh State University.

April 11, 2007 – RA President Robert Kocharian received the RF delegation at the head of first premier Sergey Ivanov. The key issues of the discussion were the Armenian-Russian relations on the economic level. The parties also dwelt on other issues of regional cooperation.

Sergey Ivanov, first deputy prime minister of Russia arrived in Armenia tonight. RF Minister of Transport, Igor Levitin as well as other officialdom is involved in the delegation headed by Ivanov.

On April 10, 2007, the staff of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant dedicated an improved and upgraded Physical Security System. This new system, developed with $3.5 million in technical and financial support from the U.S.

>COPENHAGEN, 10 April 2007 – OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Vice-President Tone Tingsgaard will visit Yerevan on 12-13 April as a part of the Assembly’s observation of the 12 May parliamentary elections in Armenia. Mrs. Tingsgaard, a Member of Parliament from Sweden, has been appointed to lead the international delegation of parliamentarians from the OSCE PA.

April 9 – Today All-Armenian Catholicos Garegin II visited RA Prime Minister Serge Sargsyan. His Holiness Garegin II started his meeting with the congratulations and blessings of Mother See of St. Echmiadzin and voiced hope that Serge Sargsyan will do his utmost to serve to the interests of the Armenian people and the country.

Today the presidents of Armenia and the Democratic Republic of China congratulated each other on the 15th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relationship. The presidents changed letters of congratulations.

Armenia is a republic with a popularly elected president and a unicameral legislature. A constitutional referendum in 2005 and presidential and National Assembly elections in 2003 were seriously flawed and did not meet international standards. The government's human rights record remained poor, and serious problems remained.

April 6 - RA Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian received Raul de Luzemberger, Charge d'Affaires of the delegation of the European Commission to Armenia.

CIC 9 countries are engaged in the NA forthcoming elections. Leader of CIC observers' mission Vladimir Rushaelo met Garegin Azaryan, chairman of RA CEC as well as other CEC members.

RA Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanyan received Vladimir Rushaelo, CIC acting secretary. CIC acting secretary informed that his arrival was due to observers’ mission activities for the NA elections.
