RECRUITMENT LAUNCHED
Under a decree of RA President Robert Kocharian, the 2007 spring recruitment and release of servicemen launched. The RA mandatory and alternative military conscriptions will be held from April till June of the current year.
NAGORNO KARABAKH CONFLICT COULD BE CLOSE TO RESOLUTION
The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict could be very close to a resolution, and Armenia is committed to working with the peace plan negotiated by the OSCE Minsk Group dealing with the conflict, Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian told the OSCE Permanent Council today.
NO BREACHES
On April 17, in accordance with the earlier achieved agreement with the NKR authorities the OSCE mission conducted a regular monitoring of the contact-line of Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijani armed forces eastwards the settlement of Seisulan, NKR Martakert region.

On April 19, CIS IPA of RF delegation headed by Anatoly Torshin, vice-chairman of FC ( Council of Federation) as well as Michael Krotov, General Secretary of CIS IPA is due to come.
OSKANIAN TO SPEAK AT OSCE PERMANENT COUNCIL
April 16, 2007 - Today RA Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian left for Austria on working visit. The RA FM will meet with Barbara Prammer, Speaker of the Austrian Parliament, and Ursula Plasnik, Minister of European and International Affairs.
GENERAL PROSECUTOR RECEIVED OBSERVERS
Today RA Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan received Yan Gorvini, the head of the OSCE/ODHIR election observation mission to Armenia. The parties dwelt on the conduct of RA NA elections and relevance of election frauds.

OSKANIAN AND MAMMADYAROV TO MEET
The recurrent meeting of the Armenian and Azeri FMs is scheduled in Belgrade on April 18, the press service of the RA Foreign Ministry reports. The meeting will be attended by the OSCE Minsk group Co-Chairs Special Envoy of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office.

KOCHARIAN TO LEAVE FOR EGYPT
On April 14 RA President Robert Kocharian will leave for the Arab Republic of Egypt on two-day official visit. The president will be escorted by Vartan Oskanian, RA Foreign Minister, Karen Chshmarityan, Minister of Trade and Economic Development, Hasmik Poghosyan, Minister of Culture and Youth Affairs, and many other high-level officials.

Presentation of CD, containing video and photo sources, archive documents, publications and evidence of eye-witnesses of mass slaughter of civilian population of the village of Maragha, NKR Martakert region, by Azerbaijani armed units, took place in the Artsakh State University.
VISITS OF THE RF HIGH-LEVEL OFFICIALS BECOME FREQUENT
April 11, 2007 – RA President Robert Kocharian received the RF delegation at the head of first premier Sergey Ivanov. The key issues of the discussion were the Armenian-Russian relations on the economic level. The parties also dwelt on other issues of regional cooperation.

HEAD of OSCE PA ELECTION OBSERVATION TEAM TO VISIT RA
>COPENHAGEN, 10 April 2007 – OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Vice-President Tone Tingsgaard will visit Yerevan on 12-13 April as a part of the Assembly’s observation of the 12 May parliamentary elections in Armenia. Mrs. Tingsgaard, a Member of Parliament from Sweden, has been appointed to lead the international delegation of parliamentarians from the OSCE PA.
CATHOLICOS BLESSES THE RA GOVERNMENT
April 9 – Today All-Armenian Catholicos Garegin II visited RA Prime Minister Serge Sargsyan. His Holiness Garegin II started his meeting with the congratulations and blessings of Mother See of St. Echmiadzin and voiced hope that Serge Sargsyan will do his utmost to serve to the interests of the Armenian people and the country.
MUTUAL CONGRATULATIONS
Today the presidents of Armenia and the Democratic Republic of China congratulated each other on the 15th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relationship. The presidents changed letters of congratulations.
ANNUAL RECORD OF THE U.S. STATE DEPARTMENT
Armenia is a republic with a popularly elected president and a unicameral legislature. A constitutional referendum in 2005 and presidential and National Assembly elections in 2003 were seriously flawed and did not meet international standards.
