SERZH SARKISSIAN MEETS WITH EU AMBASSADORS

December 5 RA Prime Minister Serzh Sarkissian met with the Ambassadors of EU member states accredited in Armenia at the Embassy of France in Armenia.

MONITORING IS IMPETUS

RA Prime Minister Serzh Sarkissian received the delegation headed by Georges Colombier, the rapporteur on Armenia in the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

OSKANIAN RECEIVES CSTO SECRETARY GENERAL

December 5 Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian received the Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Nikolay Bordyuzha at the RA Embassy in Moscow.

NEWLY ELECTED AMBASSADOR

Jeffery Kiting, newly appointed Irish Ambassador to Armenia (residence Sofia) handed over his credentials to Robert Kocahryan today.

KOCHARYAN CONGRATULATED PUTIN

Robert Kocharyan has sent a congratulatory foreword to Vladimir Putin for the victory of the elections to the Russian State Duma.

OSKANYAN INVITED

The RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Vardan Oskanyan met the Minister of Foreign affairs of Estonia Urmas Paet in Estonia.

OSKANIAN IS OFF TO ESTONIA

Today RA Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian left for the Republic of Estonia for a working visit, MFA Press and Information Department informs.

RUSSIAN DUMA ELECTIONS WERE NOT FAIR

The State Duma elections in the Russian Federation on 2 December 2007 were not fair and failed to meet many OSCE and Council of Europe commitments and standards for democratic elections, according to an observation mission of parliamentarians from these two bodies.

AN AIRBUS FOR PRESIDENT KOCHARIAN

Armenia has recently bought an airbus A-319 produced in 1998. The airplane will be used for diplomatic purposes and will replace Tu-134, 1977. It will take Armenia's President and top-officials' delegations abroad.

November 28 RA Prime Minister Serzh Sarkissian received Canadian businessmen Jonathan Goodman, James Small and Canadian Armenian businessman, Professor Azat Vardanian.

HE IS LEAVING FOR MADRID

On 28 November the RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Vardan Oskanyan will leave for Madrid to participate in 29-30 November annual meeting of the OSCE Ministers of Foreign Affairs.

The RA President Robert Kocharyan signed laws for making amendments to the RA Law “On Minimal Salary” and “On Income Tax” on 26 November.

NEW AMBASSADOR

The RA President Robert Kocharyan handed over his credentials to the newly appointed Ambassador of Uruguay Jorge Alberto Meyer Long (residence Moscow).

PRESIDENT SETS UP COMMISSION

November 23 RA president Robert Kocharian signed a decree on forming a state commission to organize arrangements dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the December 7, 1988 earthquake.

MERCOSUR RECOGNISES ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

November 19th during a plenary session of MERCOSUR Parliament in Montevideo (Uruguay), deputies representing Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay confirmed the decision on the recognition of the Armenian Genocide with the majority of votes.

NO GREY POINTS

“In this regard there are no grey points for me in the Armenian economy that I may not know”, said the Head of the OSCE Office in Yerevan Ambassador Sergey Kapinos.

HE LEAVES FOR ASHKHABAD

The delegation headed by the RA Prime Minister Serge Sargsyan will leave for Ashkhabad on 21 November to participate in the session of the CIS Council of the Heads of Government in Ashkhabad, Turkmenistan.

IF NEW ATOMIC PLANT IS BUILT...

November 21 U.S. Charge d’Affaires Joseph Pennington and RA Minister of Energy Armen Movsissian will sign a partnership agreement between the U.S. Government and the Armenian Ministry of Energy.

WESTERN ARMENIANS ARE PREPARING

RA Prime Minister Serzh Sarkissian received Karen Mikaelian, the Executive Head of the organizing committee of congress of heirs of Western Armenians who survived the Armenian Genocide.

SPECIAL SESSION CONVENED

The RA NA Chairman Tigran Torosyan signed a decision, that a special NA session is convened on 16 November 2007 at 10.00 a.m. in compliance with Article 70 of the RA Constitution with the initiative of the NA deputies.

WELLINK WAS IMPRESSED

The RA President Robert Kocharyan received the Chairman of the Netherlands Bank Nout Wellink who is in Armenia with an official visit.

ZAKARYAN HAS DEPUTIES

According to the RA President’s 12 November decree Levon Yolyan was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Control Chamber of the Republic of Armenia.
