PRESIDENT SETS UP COMMISSION

November 23 RA president Robert Kocharian signed a decree on forming a state commission to organize arrangements dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the December 7, 1988 earthquake.

The commission comprises:

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia (chairman of the commission),

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Minister of Territorial Administration (vice-chairman of the commission),

The Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia,

The Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Social, Healthcare and Ecological Issues,

The Minister of Finance and Economy of the Republic of Armenia,

The Minister of Urban Development of the Republic of Armenia,

The Minister of Culture of the Republic of Armenia,

The Assistant to RA President,

The Chief of Police of the Republic of Armenia,

The Marzpet of Lori,

The Marzpet of Shirak,

The Mayor of Gyumri,

The Mayor of Spitak,

Representatives of the Armenian Apostolic Church

The state commission is to confirm the list of events of the 20th anniversary of the earthquake by January 15, 2008. The Government has been instructed to ensure the programme financing and implementation.
