On October 15 the Office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia made a statement on the incident that was provoked on the eve at the intersection of Mashtots and Tumanyan Streets.

On October 13 Serzh Sargsyan signed a decree on appointing Ervand Khundkaryan Judge of the Civil and Administrative Chamber of the Republic of Armenia. Ervand Khundkaryan was relieved of the post of Judge of the RoA Civil Appellate Court.

On October 12 Serzh Sargsyan had a phone talk with People’s Artist of the Republic of Armenia, renowned duduk player and composer Jivan Gasparyan.

Today Serzh Sargsyan took part in the sittings of the Council of Heads of State of CIS member countries and the Interstate Council of the European Economic Community in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek.

“To avoid various interpretations, the NA ad hoc Committee reports that the visit of the U.S. experts to Armenia at the invitation of the Committee aims to present the information connected with the work of the U.S. Committee on the September 11 events and the lessons learned from their activity.

“Our objective is to reach the peaceful resolution of the issue based on mutual concessions, taking into consideration the historical realities, and primarily, the future of people.”

The Armenian Government has endorsed the draft amendments to the RoA Law on “Television and Radio,” The draft amendments are to be forwarded to the National Assembly in due order.

The observance of the International Day for Disaster Reduction for 2008 takes place in a year that has seen more than its fair share of natural calamities, and falls on the third anniversary of the earthquake in South Asia. With the casualties of that disaster and of this year's Wenchuan Earthquake and Cyclone Nargis still fresh in our minds, it is all the more appropriate to recall the lessons we have learned.

On October 9-15 Armenian Premier Tigran Sargsyan will make an official visit to the U.S.A. to take part in the annual World Bank and International Monetary Fund congress to be held in Washington D.C.
