The Armenian Government has endorsed the draft amendments to the RoA Law on “Television and Radio,” The draft amendments are to be forwarded to the National Assembly in due order. Under the disputed bill the second sentence should be omitted from Article 7, Law 28, taking into consideration the necessity to lift the restrictions on the transmission of special programmes for the national minorities living in the Republic of Armenia.

It also suggests replacing the word “TV Companies” by “TV and Radio Companies” in Article 59 of the same law.

PROCEDURE FACILIATED

Today the Government affirmed the special order of visa granting to foreign citizens with Armenian descent and of special categories of countries which can apply to the Armenian embassies and consulates and on the basis of an invitation can apply for a visa to the Republic of Armenia. The decision will facilitate the procedure of granting visa to citizens of Armenian origin or businessmen of the abovementioned countries, which will promote to the ethnic, cultural, commercial, economic development of the country.
