Composer Edward Mirzoyan passes away at 91
Renowned Armenian composer Edward Mirzoyan died this night after prolonged illness.
The modern composer, educator, musical and public figure, People's Artist of the USSR was born in Gori, Georgia, in 1921.
Mirzoyan's String Quartet, Cello Sonata, Symphony for Strings and Timpani, and Epitaph for String Orchestra have become notable additions to the international music repertoire. His Perpetuum Mobile for the violin and symphony orchestra announced the start of a new school of music in the Soviet Armenia.
