The Government doesn’t inform about changes made in the law (video)
After protest actions till now the Government hasn’t published the changes in the bill on “Temporary disability”. The only information is the press release on the NA website after the session of the Standing Committee on Social Affairs. “There is no bill, everything we are speaking about is the responses of press,”- said RA HRD Deputy Tatevik Khachatryan. According to that release, pregnant women with an income less than 1 million will get 100 percent compensation. In case of excess amount of money, motherhood benefits will be set according to the agreement with the employers. On this occasion Deputy Ombudsman notes: “It is said that the employer must compensate, but it isn’t mentioned how much will be compensated, or whether it is mandatory or contemplative.” There are few women getting salary more than one million in Armenia. In this case they can face the danger of losing their jobs. Tatevik Khachatryan stresses that the employer will understand that hiring a woman with such salary will be additional financial burden for him and will prefer to hire a man for the same job.” It has been offered by the bill to rename Pregnancy and childbirth benefits into Motherhood benefits and pay it also to those women who don’t work for 140 days’ period of pregnancy and childbirth leave.
