Female prisoners compete in sporting events (video)
The Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs in cooperation with the Abovyan Municipality organises a series of sporting events at the Abovyan prison for women and juveniles. Female prisoners confess that such events make their days more interesting and lively. "We do sports and train every day," said Karine who has been in prison for two years. The event is being held for the 5th time. Suren Prazyan, a senior representative of the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, says the program will be continued in the future. "We are developing new programs for prisoners. Our primary goal is to integrate inmates into civilian life more easily," he said. At the end of the competition, winners received certificates and prizes.
