Lilit Galstyan: "Why did they keep silent?"
The criminal case against Vartan Oskanian, Armenia's ex-foreign minister and a deputy of the Prosperous Armenian Party (BHK) is politically motivated, says Lilit Galstyan, a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation -Dashnaktsutyun.
"I know this handwriting which aims to silence people but in fact it does not bring honor to our country," she said adding that such actions tarnish our moral values and the good name of our country.
"A question rises here. Why those authorized bodies did not prevent the ulcer from ripening and exploding, when Mr. Oskanian tried to speak about our reality, the same reality that many are talking about today?" she stressed.
The ex-MP says the recent developments related to the ex-FM speak of pressure against Vartan Oskanian, against the civil society and mass media in general.
"Our Constitution envisages that Armenian is a democratic country but as you see we live by the rules of clan - something typical of Eastern countries," she said.
The ARF representative says Armenia's self-determined citizens will stand up and fight for their rights despite the authorities' arbitrariness.
