Armenian National Congress coordinator Levon Zurabyan understands why Serzh Sargsyan said he is ashamed of the police during yesterday's RA Police advisory board session. "If I were him, would also be ashamed. Everyone should be ashamed of such police officers," said Levon Zurabyan.

According to him, the charge for concealing a murder in Arabkir community and Serzh Sargsyan's words "Why are you humiliating the police?" were addressed to former head of the RA Police general department of criminal investigation Hovhannes Tamanyan, but Zurabyan doesn't understand why Tamanyan was left at the disposal of the cadre department following his dismissal. "There are many concrete articles in the criminal code for that and that person should have been sentenced to prison for his actions a long time ago. Does this mean that criminals are kept in the police cadres' reserve? Is this a new way of punishment in Armenia?"

Levon Zurabyan also touched upon Serzh Sargsyan's speech on reforms in Tsakhkadzor. "We have been hearing speeches for the past three years and will only take actions into consideration."

Levon Zurabyan didn't rush to view Serzh Sargsyan's speeches as a response to the ANC's demands stated during the rally on March 1. "There are some words stating that the authorities are discussing the inter-political situation a little more seriously. We would rate that as positive, if it weren't for Samson Khachatryan's arrest. If they are going to prove that this was just an episode, let them prove it. But they should also know that we will only take actions into account."

Today Levon Zurabyan registered that the 15 demands stated in the requisition presented by the Armenian National Congress have not been met by the due date. "I can only state my opinion. The people will give an evaluation during the rally on March 17 and we will decide what to do next." Zurabyan also called on the police to be busy with maintaining social order and put an end to actions that cause tension.

"I believe March 17th will mark a totally new stage for the establishment of democracy and constitutional liberties," said Zurabyan.
