The Embassy’s Export Control and Related Border Security Program (EXBS) recently organized a workshop for 17 Armenian Customs Service staffers at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York. The training gave the Armenian customs officials the opportunity to discuss shared challenges with U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers and to learn new ways to detect, identify, and interdict contraband. They focused on areas such as targeting, use of technology in layered enforcement, and aircraft searches. The EXBS program aims to strengthen export control systems globally by providing legal advice, training, and equipment. Better export control helps fight the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, their delivery systems, conventional weapons, and related materials.
