Starting from July 1 for six months “LOT Polish Airlines” suspends its flights for Yerevan. Company’s office in Yerevan is unaware of the reasons for suspension, it just notes that it isn’t the first time the flights have been temporarily suspended. Starting from September “Etihad” Arabic company will also suspend its flights for Yerevan. Airlines of several other countries have suspended their flights from Yerevan earlier. “Alitalia” company hasn’t operated in Yerevan for already several months. Czech airlines haven’t suspended it operation, simply Yerevan-Prague direct flight doesn’t operate. In this case an agreement has already been reached to reopen the flights. Recently Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan has discussed the issue with Chairman of Board of Directors of “Czech Airlines” company and they have come to an agreement. But there is no information about terms. There is a concern that the same will happen to other European airlines in order to strengthen the monopoly of “Aeroflot” company in Armenia. But offices of Austrian and French airlines assured that there would be no changes in their flights. During recent months mainly offers by Ukrainian airlines, Russian “Aeroflot”, “Transaero” and “Sibir Avia” have been in great demand. Though prices of “Austrian Airlines” are relatively higher, one part of the consumers prefers only that variant. The tickets of French airlines are the most expensive. To remind, after bankruptcy of “Armavia”, its position remains vacant. “Air Armenia” had the best chances to take that position, but it suspended its flights from November, 2014 promising to restart in March. But even after selling 49% of its shares to Russian “East Prospect Fund” company, “Air Armenia” hasn’t restarted its flights until today.
