Her gata is famous all over the village (video)
Gata, made by Kotayk region Goght village resident, is known all over the region. “We are trying to put as much filling as dough in order to make it tasty. Many people like the filling and not the dough. It is difficult but we do it,”- says the resident of Goght Maro Hovsepyan. She has done this work for more than 20 years. Everything began when her husband left for Artsakh to participate in the liberation war. “He was away for 3 months, then he came back and during that time we were in difficult condition and I began to bake gata,”- says Mrs. Hovsepyan. Now ornamented gata is sold in Goght, but the main place for sales is Geghard: tourists can’t pass indifferent. The whole family take part in the process of baking gata. Daughter-in-law- Anna, has learnt the skills of making gata from her mother-in-law. And when gata is ready, the housewife’s son puts it into a tandoor. Details- in the video
