Europe opens its pocket in order not to sever its relationship with Armenia, says political analyst Aghasi Yenokyan. “All officials going to Brussels say they [Europeans] treat us with cold contempt reminding us of September 3. Anyway, Europe does not want to cut the last thread with Armenia,” says the Director of the Armenian Center for Political and International Relations. The European Union is ready to allocate up to 170 million Euros to Armenia for finalizing the reforms in the country. This is how Europe is trying to keep its influence in the country after the events of Sep. 3 while Armenia is not taking any efforts to avoid the influence of Russia. “Thanks to our countrymen we have great resources in Russia - millionaires, billionaires. But we do not use this great resource to influence Russia,” says Mikayel Zolyan, an analyst at Regional Studies Center, a Yerevan-based think tank. During the discussion held at the Media Centre, expert Ruben Mehrabyan recalled the latest tragic incident on the Contact Line when Azerbaijan downed an Artsakh helicopter which was reportedly on a training mission and according to the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Defense Ministry was unarmed. The helicopter was shot down with weapons purchased from Russia. “If we consider the security guarantee of Armenia a country [Russia] that is the main supplier of threats and dangers in our region, then we can say that the issue of Armenia’s security is not solved because what we consider to be solved is a mere delusion,” said Mr Mehrabyan.
