A business center was supposed to be built in 2013 in the place of the former Youth Palace, a famous landmark in Yerevan. However, not a single stone has been laid on the site since the demolition of the famous building (known as the “corncob” because of its design) in 2003. A tender was held in January 2010 for a design of a new building and attracted some 350 plans from 70 countries. The building was alienated in return for a debt, and was sold reportedly for $1 million to owner of Avangard Motors Co. Edik Avetisyan. However, no construction has been carried out in four years.
