The main lesson the Armenian people should draw from the March 1 deadly clashes is that we should avert any bloodshed in the future, says Artur Mkrtchyan, Dean of the Faculty of Sociology at Yerevan State University. The sociologist says their research has shown that there are not prerequisites for the repetition of the March 1, 2008 tragedy in Armenia as people are not in rebellious moods. “We should constantly follow and monitor the situation to be able to make predictions for the future,” he said. In reply to A1+’s observation that the curriculum of universities represents the March 1 tragedy the way it is interpreted by the authorities, Mr. Mkrtchyan sai he did not possess such information. “Today it is very difficult to make students learn something, even if it is directly linked to their profession,” he said.
