Ombudsman about Ani Gevorgyan
Ombudsman’s response to the incident of the “Chorrord Ishkhanutyun”newspaper reporter Ani Gevorgyan “We are seriously concerned about the incident happened yesterday to the “Chorrord Ishkhanutyun” newspaper’s reporter Ani Gevorgyan. The obstruction of journalist’s professional activities and what is more, violence against her, are criminally punishable and strongly condemned, especially, when those crimes are committed by public officials. The only way to prevent such crimes is the efficient, strict and balanced response of the law enforcement agencies. Guided by the presumption of innocence of all persons, we refrain from making more precise estimates and expect proper and thorough investigation by the Special Investigation Service of the RA as well as public awareness of its results as soon as possible.
