Hopeful’s health deteriorates, he refuses to go to hospital
The condition of Armenian presidential candidate Andrias Ghukasyan has reportedly deteriorated on the seventeenth day of hunger strike outside the National Academy of Sciences in Yerevan.
During the subsequent medical examination this morning, doctors revealed that Ghukasyan's blood pressure dropped below normal falling to 80/40.
They immediately recommended that the presidential contender stop the hunger strike and be transferred to hospital but Ghukasyan said he was determined to continue the hunger strike. He refused to be placed under medical supervision.
Armen Grigoryan, a coordinator of candidate's campaign office, said the headquarters will issues a statement later in the day.
Vardan Sedrakyan, another presidential candidate who is challenging Serzh Sargsyan in the February 18 vote, today visited Andrias Ghukasyan.
Andrias Ghukasian, one of the eight candidates in the Armenian presidential race who runs a private radio station in Yerevan, has been camped outside the National Academy of Sciences building in Yerevan since start of the presidential campaign on January 21, 2013. He demands that incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan be barred from seeking re-election. Also, he urges for measures to expel the international observers from Armenia.
