HHK interested in disclosing March 1 tragic events
The National Assembly's Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs has decided to postpone the vote on creating an ad hoc committee to look into the March 2008 post-election clashes after the 2013 presidential election. The proposal to establish an ad hoc committee was made the opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK).
Head of the HAK faction Levon Zurabyan said they agreed to the adjournment on condition that the parliamentary majority promised to vote for the bill after the election.
But if the parliamentary majority decides to go back on its promise, the opposition bloc will again raise the issue of establishing an interim committee.
NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan urged Levon Zurabyan not to create the impression that the Republican Party (HHK) is not interested in disclosing the March 2008 events.
"The Republican Party led by Serzh Sargsyan is the most interested side," said Mr Abrahamyan.
The National Assembly approved the agenda.
