Nikol Pashinyan, an MP of the opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK), is not going to ‘compromise with the perpetrators of March 1, 2008, post-election clashes,' Pashinyan said at the National Assembly during the discussions of the prosecutor general's petition to strip lawmaker Vartan Oskanian of his parliamentary immunity.

The HAK lawmaker says he is not going to ‘protect gang members from each others.' Moreover, Pashinyan labels it as ‘a political show' aimed at finally closing the chapter of March 1.

Head of the Republican faction Galust Sahakyan is surprised to hear that MPs seek political motives behind the petition.

"Never believe that the Republican Party will oppose any political force, especially the Prosperous Armenia Party," he said adding that a few months ago they were singing the same song.

Then the Republican official said his party would vote in the same mode as he, i.e. allowing Vartan Oskanian to prove his innocence in court.

In his speech, Head of the ARF-Dashnaktsutyun faction Vahan Hovhannisyan said that the National Assembly did not stop surprising him. The party is not going to participate in the vote.
"If the National Assembly does not endorse the petition and revoke Oskanian's immunity, it will serve as a precedent for ordinary citizens and prosecutors," said Republican MP Artashes Geghamyan.

Discussions in parliament were interrupted at exactly 6 p.m.
