Communist Party fields candidates in Sept 23 elections
The Communist Party of Armenia (HKK) is still undecided about its participation in the 2013 presidential elections.
"The HKK is not a one-person party. We shall decide our participation in due time. The decision will be taken by the supreme body of the party," said the first secretary of the HKK central committee, Ruben Tovmasyan.
The chief communist predicts complicated political developments in the near future.
"Everyone will pursue his interests, without thinking about the state of the country. Armenia is in a grave economic situation today, with people running away from their country. The crisis of unemployment and poverty is deepening, on the other hand," he said.
The party has fielded six candidates to run in the September 23 elections to local self-government bodies. The HKK representative regrets to say that their four candidates nominated for the Sept. 9 local elections were not elected.
"They sustained a defeat as the same scheme of fraud was applied in communities. Residents were threatened, bribed and cheated. They even threatened to fire them from work," said Mr. Tovmasyan.
The chief communist says people have run out of patience and the ‘outbreak will broom away the ruling system like the ninth wave.'
