No Comment about Karabakh elections
OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs today arrived in Yerevan from Stepanakert.
Though the Minsk Group mediators seemed to be in high spirits, they refused to talk to journalists about the results of their regional meetings.
After a one-hour meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs Robert Bradtke, Igor Popov and Jacques Faure told the waiting journalists that ‘they are concerned about the ceasefire violations along the line of contact between Azerbaijani and Karabakh armed forces.'
Speaking to journalists, Mr. Bradtke said that the contact line has become a kind of a dividing line between the peoples of the region.
"It is important that the sides respect the ceasefire," he stressed.
During the regional visit, the co-chairs visited Baku, crossed the contact line and later visited Stepanakert.
"We have crossed the line of contact. We have done it several times to see whether it is possible to maintain the ceasefire," said the U.S. co-chair.
During the meeting with the Armenian FM, the OSCE mediators underlined that it is important that the sides maintain and implement the agreements achieved to this date.
"We see some progress. You know that the peace talks are confidential, and I cannot tell you all details. We talked about the incidents reported along the line of contact on June 4 and 6, which resulted in c fatalities from both sides. We have focused on this during the meetings," said Russian Co-Chair Igor Popov.
The mediators will issue a statement about their regional visits later.
