Sarkozy apologises for his son's tomato prank
French President Nicolas Sarkozy publically apologised to a policewoman after his teenage son and his friends threw a tomato and pellets at her from the presidential palace.
Louis Sarkozy, 15, and two friends launched the attack on the female officer from the courtyard of the Elysee Palace in Paris - also hitting the officer in the cheek with a marble.
She filed an official criminal report, but the case was dropped after the hugely embarrassed President apologised to her in person.
Sarkozy, who last year had a baby girl with his third wife Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, also has two adult sons from a first marriage.
The right-winger is trailing in the opinion polls behind Socialist Francois Hollande in his bid to get re-elected in a two-round vote in April and May.
