OEK Congress kicks off
The "Country of Law" Party (OEK) launched its 10th Congress at the Karen Demirchyan Sport-Concert Complex.
It was announced that out of the party's 2,669 delegates of the territorial structures, 2,662 were attending the congress. The agenda included four items, including a report on the party's activities, its strategy, the changes in the OEK's plan and charter and the elections for the administrative bodies.
Attending the congress were Serzh Sargsyan, leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the faction of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) Galust Sahakyan and German Ambassador to Armenia Hans Jokhen-Schmidt.
In his speech, leader of OEK Artur Baghdasaryan announced that the past 15 years of the party have been years of struggle and development. "We have been represented in all sessions of the National Assembly."
Baghdasaryan said the 2008 presidential elections were a turning period for the OEK because it formed part of the political coalition.
"Power serves as an opportunity for us to implement our programs. I don't have the right to fail and disappoint my supporters. The OEK has never deceived its supporters, and it's not always that everyone has supported us," the OEK leader said.
Artur Baghdasaryan says it is no longer time to fail and that the party has to fight.
"I sincerely support the government and think that it is no longer time for fun and games in politics," Artur Baghdasaryan declared.
