The opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK) is ready to start a dialogue with the authorities. HAK has already formed a five-member delegation headed by HAK Coordinator Levon Zurabyan.

"At the May 31 rally, HAK expressed willingness to negotiate with the authorities. As promised, we formed a delegation on Thursday to participate in the dialogue," Zurabyan told A1+ on Friday, June 3.
The opposition delegation is comprised of David Shahnazaryan, Vahagn Khachatryan, Felix Khachatryan, and Samvel Abrahamyan, who, according to the HAK Coordinator, enjoy public confidence and are skillful and sophisticated people.

"Numerous international organizations including the European Union, the Council of Europe, already hailed HAK's willingness for dialogue. Now it is the authorities' turn to accept our proposal," said the HAK Coordinator.

Zurabyan stressed that the dialogue is a political way to eradicate the consequences of the March 2008 clashes following the rigged presidential elections.

"If the authorities want to surmount the crisis, they should make a retaliatory move, otherwise they will deepen the existing watershed," he said.

Commenting on the authorities' statements that snap elections are excluded in Armenia, Zurabyan said, "Their rough behaviour is quite natural before the negotiations. You needn't take the statements seriously."

"The political crisis is due to the lack of legitimacy of government, which according to the Armenian National Congress can be solved through snap elections," he continued.

Zurabyan notes that the grave social conditions increase migration, as people can no longer shoulder the burden of illegitimate power.

"Each day is decisive," he said.

"Only extraordinary presidential and parliamentary elections can guarantee radical reforms in Armenia. Let them try to prove otherwise," Zurabyan said adding that HAK is ready to discuss the prerequisites and guarantees for free and transparent elections.
