"Every Armenian knows who Charles Aznavour is"
On September 28, Armenia's Ambassador to Switzerland and national hero Charles Aznavour will give a concert in Olympia Hall of Paris on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Armenia's independence. The concert will be held under the patronage of the Armenian and French Presidents.
On May 20, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian participated in an event dedicated to renowned French Armenian singer Charles Aznavour. The Armenian FM conveyed to the great chansonnier the greetings of President Serzh Sargsyan.
The event brought together over 600 guests, including singers Liza Minnelli, Celine Dion, U.S. Congressmen and representatives of the Armenian community.
"Maybe not all our compatriots know who Armenia's Foreign Minister is, but I believe that every Armenian on the globe is aware who Charles Aznavour is. Do you remember when we went to a market in Samarkand, an elderly man, who was selling rice soup at the entrance, said, "I recognized you, you are Charles Aznavour, the author of the song La Boheme," said Minister Nalbandian.
Charles Aznavour became 87 years old on May 22.
