Mother Temple of Ani to be restored
Turkey intends to restore the Mother Temple and the Holy Savior Church of Ani located 40 kilometers from Kars along with the World Monuments Fund.
"We express hope that restoration of the once marvelous buildings will contribute to the emergence of new economic opportunities," Turkey's Minister of Culture and Tourism Ertugrul Gunay announced.
According to the "Voice of America", the minister fell short of informing whether liturgies would be allowed in the temple and the church of Ani after restoration.
Head of the Anadolu Kultur non-governmental cultural organization coordinating activities with the World Monuments Fund Osman Kavalay informed that restoration will most likely launch in early 2012 and will last 4 years.
