Republican MP Spartak Melikyan has filed an appeal to NA Chairman Hovik Abrahamyan according to which he is proposing to free him from his immunity as an MP.

Spartak Melikyan had accused the NA Control Chamber of corruption and had presented a fact according to which the "Ananya Shirakatsi" school was on the "black list" of the Control Chamber after refusing to pay 4,000 dollars demanded by inspectors. According to Melikyan, Ishkhan Zakaryan was aware of this.

President of the Control Chamber Ishkhan Zakaryan has announced that he will sue Spartak Melikyan, while the latter will ask for immunity so that later the parliament will not accuse him of impeding the examination.

Head of the Republican faction Galust Sahakyan told "A1+" that this was Spartak Melikyan's own initiative.

"This is also due to Spartak's lack of experience. The presentation of such issues can be more visible and favorable to reach a situation," said Galust Sahakyan. As to how it could be more visible than presenting the issue at the National Assembly, Galust Sahakyan said Spartak could have consulted, weighed the issue and turned the process into a fruitful one.

Is the Republican Party preparing to support its MP in case of possible developments? In response, the head of the faction said: "The political teams with personal problems don't support. They only support when announcements are made as a result of political analyses."

As for NA Chairman Hovik Abrahamyan, within the powers formulated by the Constitution he is not competent to deprive an MP of his immunity even in accordance with the MP's appeal.
